Beta Reader Application: The Song of Tiyya

This form is for families interested in participating in the beta reader program for a new upper middle-grade historical mystery set in medieval Africa, The Song of Tiyya, written by the founder of Nautilus Homeschool, Julia Kurnia.

The book is appropriate for advanced readers ages 10 and up. It's a literary novel at about the same difficulty level as a typical Newberry Honor historical fiction book. You may view a plot summary here.

Beta readers will receive about three chapters' worth of reading material in PDF format in two alternate versions of the beginning of the book. They will be asked to provide feedback on what they have read via a short web form, and to vote on the version they liked best.

As space in the beta reader program is limited, we ask that you only fill out this form if your child has agreed to 1) read at least the first few pages of both versions (no need to finish if they do not enjoy it) and 2) complete the feedback form within one month.

The first twenty participants to submit their feedback will receive a complimentary print copy of the book when it is published. (I can only ship within the US, so if your mailing address is overseas, I will send a complimentary e-book instead.)

If you are under 13, please have a parent or guardian fill out this form. Thank you!
