Piano 2
Description
This course is the second part of a three-part series, continuing from where Piano 1 leaves off. It consists of completing self-paced video lessons through Hoffman Academy. The lesson videos are free, with optional practice modules as a paid add-on.
You will need a piano for your student to practice on. This need not be expensive, or take up a great deal of space. Digital pianos for a wide range of budgets can be purchased from Amazon and elsewhere, and many music stores offer rental programs. If you buy a digital piano, it is recommended to choose one with weighted keys, as these simulate what the player will experience with a traditional piano.
Hoffman Academy consists of 353 lessons, mostly between ten and twenty minutes long, which build on each other and take students from total beginner to intermediate level player. They're designed to be accessible and fun for very young students, but are thorough enough to be challenging for older students as well.
The Piano 1, 2 and 3 courses together provide the equivalent of about three years' worth of piano lessons. This Piano 2 course covers the second six units, or 120 lessons. At the rate of three lessons per week, it can be completed in about nine months. Once this course is completed, students can move on to the Piano 3 course which covers the final three units.
