Writing with Skill: Level 1 (Part 2)
Description
This course covers the second half of Writing with Skill Level 1. The Writing with Skill Level 1 (Part 1) course should be completed first.
The Writing with Skill series is a continuation of the Writing with Ease series for elementary grades, and teaches expository writing for middle and high school students. The practice lessons are based on selections from great books and are thorough without being overly time-consuming.
Each book provides a daily lesson for four days per week over the course of an eight-month academic year. However, we suggest working on this book only two days a week in order to allow the student ample time to focus on this and other coursework. At this pace, you can plan to allocate two years to each book.
If your child enjoys creative writing, you can also allocate one to three days per week to this, depending on your child's interest. Allow your child to choose what to write about: he or she may opt to keep a diary of personal events, mail letters to family members or even write a book. The book 500 Writing Prompts for Kids provides plenty of ideas.
