By the end of this activity, students should be able to locate each country in the world on a map. We suggest using Seterra Geography (www.geoguessr.com/seterra/en), a free resource which includes up-to-date online map quizzes for learning modern countries.
Students newly learning country locations should focus one continent at a time. Study a map of the countries in that continent, then use Seterra to quiz yourself on their locations. The first day you practice, aim for 75% accuracy. On a separate day, study and take the quiz again until you achieve 95% accuracy. Then move on to the next continent. Finally, test yourself using the world's 90 most populous countries quiz (www.geoguessr.com/vgp/3185) until you achieve a score of at least 95%.
